Sasha’s Approach

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” — Carl Jung

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that blends the neurobiological effects of ketamine with guided, trauma-informed therapy. When used in a low dose, ketamine can help quiet habitual patterns of thought, soften emotional defenses, and create space for new insights to emerge. In this state, many people find it easier to access emotions, memories, and perspectives that have felt out of reach. What makes KAP powerful isn’t the medicine alone, it’s how the therapeutic process supports, guides, and integrates what arises, helping you turn insights into real change.

In partnership with licensed medical providers , we begin with thorough screening and preparation to ensure KAP is the right fit for you. A session often involves a low-dose lozenge in a comfortable, supportive environment, where I guide you through the process while you remain inwardly focused. Following the experience, we meet for integration sessions to help you make sense of what came up and find ways to apply it to your life. We’ll review the potential benefits, risks, and contraindications together, ensuring that every step aligns with your values, needs, and readiness.

My Approach
I believe KAP works best when combined with personalized, body-based therapy. I draw from the methods I’m most passionate about and extensively trained in: Somatic & Attachment-Focused EMDR (Certified; Consultant-in-Training), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (Certified Basic), Brainspotting, Hypnotherapy, IFS-informed and Ego States work, and yoga-based nervous system practices. This allows us to work not just with the mind, but with the body and nervous system, where trauma and stress are often stored. Together, we use the ketamine experience to help you regulate your nervous system, reconnect with your body, and create meaningful, sustainable changes in how you feel and relate to yourself and others.

KAP can be especially helpful for depression, PTSD, moral injury, chronic stress, attachment wounds, and times when you’ve felt “stuck” despite trying other approaches. This is not a quick fix, it’s a partnership. We move at a pace that feels right for you, honoring your lived experience and supporting you in creating the shifts that matter most to you.

What to Expect in Your KAP Process

Step 1: Medical Intake & Coordination

Before beginning, you will meet with a licensed prescriber for a thorough medical intake to ensure KAP is safe and appropriate for you.

  • This is a separate session from therapy available virtually with a trusted prescriber.

  • The prescriber may be able to bill your insurance for the medical portion.

  • I collaborate directly with your prescriber to coordinate dosing and safety, so your care is seamless and supportive.

Step 2: 90-Minute Preparation Session (Scheduled Before Your Journey)

Before your medicine session, we’ll meet for a 90-minute preparation session to:

  • Explore your intentions, needs, and hopes for the journey.

  • Review your history, symptoms, and patterns (including trauma, OCD, eating disorders, or relational struggles).

  • Introduce grounding tools and somatic practices to support you during and after your experience.

  • Begin setting a personalized roadmap that integrates your goals with the KAP process.

Step 3: Journey Session (Approximately 3-4 hours)

The medicine session itself is a 3-4 hour immersive healing experience.

  • You’ll receive the prescribed ketamine in a safe and monitored setting.

  • I will be with you throughout, offering presence, grounding, and trauma-informed support, whether in person or virtually.

  • Therapeutic approaches may be woven in as needed, including:

    • EMDR or Bilateral Stimulation to process trauma and intrusive thoughts.

    • IFS / Ego States Therapy to connect with wounded or protective parts.

    • Somatic & Breathwork to regulate and deepen embodied safety.

    • Hypnotherapy & Guided Imagery to unlock new perspectives and possibilities.

    • ERP / I-CBT to soften compulsions, fears, and intrusive thoughts.

    • Attachment Repair Practices to open space for connection and trust.

  • The experience is yours, sometimes quiet and inward, other times interactive, always at your pace, with your needs at the center.

Step 4: Nourishment & Rest (1-3 hrs.)

After the journey, you’ll have several hours to rest, nourish yourself, and allow your system to settle.

  • Many clients find this period of quiet time essential for integrating insights.

  • You’re encouraged to eat, walk, journal, or simply rest before returning for the integration session later in the day.

Step 5: Same-Day Integration Session (90 minutes)

We will meet again later in the afternoon for a 90-minute integration session.

  • This provides the space to process your journey while it’s still fresh, and anchor insights into daily life.

  • Together, we may use EMDR, ART, somatic grounding, or parts work to deepen the healing that began in your session.

  • You’ll receive a personalized integration workbook with reflection prompts, grounding exercises, and practices to continue at home.

  • This ensures the medicine session leads to sustainable change, not just a momentary shift.
