Clarity can help you feel seen, supported, and believed.
If you are seeking asylum or applying for a hardship waiver, T visa, U visa, or VAWA protection, you may be asked to talk about experiences of violence, abuse, or trafficking. Sharing these experiences can be painful and overwhelming especially when you’re not sure how to explain their impact or why they matter to your case. I offer trauma-informed support and documentation that carefully explains how these experiences have affected your emotional well-being, daily life, and ability to feel safe. My approach is respectful, compassionate, and centered on helping your story be understood with dignity throughout the immigration process.
Immigration Evaluations
Your story deserves to be heard in its entirety with accuracy, compassion, and professionalism. Immigration cases are often more than legal matters; they are human stories marked by resilience, adversity, and hope. For many, the psychological evaluation is a key piece of evidence—bridging the gap between lived experiences and the legal standards used in immigration proceedings. I specialize in comprehensive, trauma-informed psychological evaluations for:
Asylum – documenting the psychological impact of persecution, torture, or credible fear of harm if returned to one’s country of origin.
Extreme Hardship Waivers – assessing the emotional and mental health consequences a qualifying family member would face if separated from you or forced to relocate.
VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) – detailing the psychological effects of domestic violence, coercive control, or extreme cruelty experienced by the applicant.
U Visas – evaluating trauma resulting from being a victim of certain qualifying crimes and the ongoing impact on mental health.
A Whole-Person, Trauma-Informed Approach
As an Army veteran, former first responder, and healthcare provider from a multi-generational service family, I bring a unique understanding of resilience, chronic stress, and recovery after adversity. This lived experience informs my clinical approach, ensuring the process is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and emotionally safe.
I recognize that many clients seeking immigration evaluations may be sharing deeply personal, painful, or traumatic details for the first time. My role is to listen without judgment, guide the conversation at a pace that feels manageable, and ensure the information gathered reflects both the human reality and the legal relevance of your experiences.
Our Evaluation Process
Your evaluation is a collaborative journey, and may include:
01. Clinical Interview(s)
A private, in-depth conversation to explore your history, experiences, and current emotional and physical symptoms.
02. Trauma-Informed Assessment Tools
Evidence-tools to assess the presence and severity of trauma, depression, anxiety, and other relevant conditions for accurate and reliable results.
03. Cultural & Contextual Considerations
Understanding how your cultural background, community, and life circumstances influence your mental health and coping strategies.
04. Records Review
Reviewing relevant documentation such as police reports, medical records, legal filings, or affidavits that can strengthen your case.
05. Collateral Interviews (optional)
With your written consent, conversations with family members, healthcare providers, or other relevant individuals to provide addtional prospective.
06. Receive Your Comprehensive Report
The written report you receive is thorough, clear, and tailored to meet immigration legal standards, while still honoring your dignity and voice. It typically includes:
A detailed personal and psychosocial history
A description of your lived experiences relevant to your immigration claim
Objective assessment results and clinical impressions
A professional explanation of how your mental health has been impacted
Diagnoses, when clinically appropriate, based on DSM-5-TR criteria
An explanation of how symptoms and diagnoses relate to the legal requirements of your immigration case
Professional recommendations for ongoing support, treatment, or accommodations
The report is written in plain language so it can be understood by attorneys, judges, and immigration officers, while still meeting professional psychological documentation standards.
Why an Immigration Evaluation Matters
*
Why an Immigration Evaluation Matters *
A well-prepared immigration psychological evaluation can:
Strengthen your legal case by providing credible, objective mental health documentation
Validate your lived experiences through professional, trauma-informed assessment
Offer insight into the long-term impact of persecution, violence, loss, or separation
Highlight hardship in concrete terms that align with immigration law criteria
For many clients, this process not only provides critical legal evidence but also offers a validating and healing experience, sometimes the first time their story has been fully acknowledged in a professional setting.
Beyond the Evaluation
I don’t believe in handing over a report and leaving you with unanswered questions. After your evaluation, I can:
Review the findings with you and/or your attorney
Clarify how the results will be interpreted in your immigration process
Provide referrals to mental health, medical, or social services if needed
Offer follow-up consultations for case updates or additional documentation
My mission is to provide evaluations that are accurate, thorough, and deeply respectful helping your attorney present the strongest possible case while ensuring you feel heard, supported, and seen.
